Studying Formation of Colloidal Nanocrystals
Colloidal quantum dots exhibit unique size- and shape-dependent properties, which cannot be achieved by their bulk counterparts. Consequently, fundamental understanding on their formation processes is essential. In this talk, I will present my research on the formation mechanism and applications of colloidal nanocrystals. I will discuss how atoms evolve into quantum dots, including extremely small-sized nanoclusters and recent uses of liquid phase transmission electron microscopy for studying nanocrystal formation. In addition, I will briefly introduce applications of colloidal quantum dots for the next-generation optoelectronic devices (e.g. solar cells and light-emitting diodes).
