Organic Ionic Materials: Structures and Thermal Phase Changes

- Among materials containing organic ion salts, materials related to soft materials are ionic liquid , ionic plastic crystal , and ionic liquid crystal, and our laboratory is proceeding the research of these materials.

- In the case of ionic liquids which contains ionic salts, they have the advantage of being able to freely change their physical properties through changes in molecular structure . More broadly, in the case of dicatic organic ionic salts, the melting point is are much higher than that of ionic liquids, but the temperature range showing the soft solid phase is also very wide . In this presentation, we will broadly discuss solid-solid phase transition, and the following changes in material properties by it, and correlations between those and chemical structure of materials .

- Recently, researches aiming to use OPIC materials, which are soft ionic solid-state materials, as solid-state electrolyte are conducting, and several materials will be introduced in this presentation.
