Science versus Engineering

In general, researcher in enterprise is assigned to engineering work. What is the difference between Engineering and Science?

First of all, consider definition. Science is a collection of knowledge, exploring physics and nature. On the other hand, Engineering is using the knowledge to solve problems and to design, establish, maintain, and manage the process or product which satisfies requirements. Scientists start from asking questions. And then they make background research, make hypothesis, proceed experiments, test the hypothesis, analysis data, and deliver results. Engineers start from defining the problem, understanding the standards and limits, brainstorming ideas, plan technology and improve their design. Scientists try to explain and explain the nature. As a result, they publish results like journals and books, and the knowledge inside them help us to understand and predict nature. Engineer design the solution of problems and invent products to enhance human lives.

To understand Engineering deeper, I am indroducing two examples. For starters, math contained in San Francisco's landscape Golden Gate Bridge. How could Engineer Joseph Strauss build a bridge in the middle of stratit whose width is over 2km and , whose center's depth is over 100m. Next, the story of development of OLED TV which is released in 2013 at Korea. In 1987, chemists in Eastman Kodak Ching Tang and Steven Van Slkle published an organic structure capable of OLED luminescenece. However Japan claimed developing OLED TV is like climbing Fuji mountain standing on hands. What is a secret of Engineering that made the impossible possible?
