2023 New Scholarship Student Selection Notice

Program Name: Surim Scholarship Program
Program Purpose
The purpose of the program is to honor the wishes of the foundation's founder by discovering and supporting outstanding talent in the natural sciences, which is essential for national development.
Eligibility
Current undergraduate students in their 1st or 2nd year at a 4-year (or higher) university in South Korea with one of the following majors as of March 2023, who meet all of the following criteria:
- Majors in one of the five natural science fields – Physics/Science/Astronomy/Geography, Chemistry, Biology/Life Sciences, Mathematics/Statistics, or Medicine (pre-med).
- Eligible majors are based on the classification criteria of the National Education Statistics Center’s educational statistics service. (Refer to the foundation’s website for details.)
- Achieved a score within the 4th grade in all four sections of the CSAT (Korean, Math, English, and two subjects in the Social Studies/Science section) in the year of admission to the university. For the Social Studies/Science section, the average grade of two subjects must be within the 4th grade.
- Enrolled in at least 12 credits for the Spring 2023 semester.
- In the 6th income bracket or lower for the Spring 2023 semester (based on the national scholarship income level 6).
- Applicants who have received national or university scholarships are also eligible to apply.

Support Details
- Scholarship: Up to 2,000,000 KRW per semester
- Individual scholarship amounts will not exceed the tuition for the semester (including entrance and registration fees), including scholarships received from other organizations.
- Scholarships are provided twice a year, for a maximum of 8 semesters (6 semesters if selected in the 2nd year).
- Living Support: 3,600,000 KRW per year
- Living support is provided to students who have completed registration for the semester (students on leave are not eligible).
- Living support is paid in monthly installments of 300,000 KRW, with a total of up to 48 months (36 months if selected in the 2nd year).
- Overseas Cultural Exploration: Two opportunities for overseas cultural exploration (China and Japan) during enrollment.
- Educational Equipment: Provided to newly selected scholarship students in 2023.
Application for New Scholarship Students
Applicants for the Surim Scholarship must submit the following application documents to the foundation:
